The rocks shelter
Approaching flood

Return from cold trails
to find a crackling warm fire
and freshly grilled trout.

shimmering blue lake
waters crystal clear and bright
your taste divine

reflections of cloud
floating across azure skies
mirrored by lake

flashes of silver
as  a greedy trout  swims by
ignoring the hook

flicking tail stirs reeds
water surface swells and ebbs -
trout chases dinner

The carp and the trout
are swimming  courageously,
Angler is a poet

sleeping on green blades
today’s warm intensity fades

Predator bird swoops
Bug dodges down to river
Trout bites, swallows whole

trout season is here
fish and lemon I will seek
wife is quite a cook

Once a colony
Empire state of the south
Trout, gators, catfish

trout leaps, splashes back
rapid creek, roll loosened rock,
fisherman, no luck!

mayflies hatching
brown trout awaiting
chalk stream splash

tides cycle around
ebbing back turquoise seas
ripples tease

waves swim fathoms deep
return navy blue seas
smiles of pearl foam

surf current of waves
navy blue roads flow
salty drinks on deck

aquarium seas
whales sharks dolphins trout
waves vehicle rides

trout leaps, splashes back,

rapid creek, 'neath submerged rock,

angler misses luck !

sharp talons snatch trout
feeding impatient eaglets
powerful hunter

plunging stealth bomber
kingfisher stabs trout with beak~
zeroed in target
